if i download anything from a usa server i am only getting between 20-30kbps for my download speed. when i was on the adventure plan i used to get between 150-300kbps. i have been getting this speed for about 4 days now. this is in off-peak hours.i realise xtra had a problem of users getting put into the go large pool but this has been fixed now and i'm still getting these slow speeds. what download speeds are you getting from usa servers on the go large plan? i am wondering if i should change isp's because some people are on ihug and getting at least 100kbps.

Hi welcome to Geekzone. You may like to start a thread in the introduction forum to tell us all a little bit about yourself.

You are unlikely to get higher speeds with another ISP. The reason others may be getting better speed is because they are on a different exchange to you or just closer to it. Location and distance play a rather large role in ADSL performance.

Agree, the speed has dropped markedly

I have a case open with Xtra currently and at their request am collecting details of speeds several times a day, but in short I was previously on an Adventure plan and achieving around 3600 kbps (using their speed test), I'm now not getting more that 600kbps on Go Large at any time of the day.

Solroni: Regardless, ever since the unleash, broadband has been total #$%^.

It's about time Telecom reined in their advertising because they are making false claims.

You can't keep everyone happy.... so you want to go back to the old 3.5mbps regrime? With silly 10gb caps?
Its only just started, just be patient things are sorted out....

In saying that - please use this existing thread for speed results. There is already quite a few threads discussing Go Large and the unleased broadband in general so lets use those instead of fracturing the discussion over many similar threads...

I for one would rather see seedtest in this thread, as I do not wish to feed to troll, or have anything more to do with the OP of the other thread.

Speed Test:

ISP: Xtra

Your line speed is approximately 3416.4 Kbps or 418.7 K bytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

Faster than ever before and loving it. Cool

Actually that is a really good point... Carry on (though it would be nice to start 'reducing' the number of threads regarding a single subject)

They have not made any false claims at all and once again you are off topic. Final warning

Regarding switching to another ISP, many ISP's unlimited services will be a WBS product. If they have match Xtras unlimited plan offerings the margins are smaller if they offer this product over UBS, also having connections with >10gb/month usage counts in an adverse way towards their UBS excess usage averages so its a double whammy.

You just dare to watch the TV and see if Telecom ads will continue. I bet you sweet **** they will not.
