Will this Yahoo thing ever just work?

We've a house lot of accounts - for kids and so on. It's really never been a problem (apart from some Outlook issues that my wife had)

Well now. Some of the accounts won't log in to webmail anymore - when you enter username and password it just takes you to a screen with instructions to set up pop... Don't want to...

Set up a new account yesterday thinking that the recent problems might be an issue. Even with a new account - same result.

Anyone else found this?

I'd give Yahoo mail the bye bye and setup an account or two on Gmail or Outlook.com

+1. Been with Telecom for years but ditched xtra when they went yahoo. Happy chappy ever since.

outlook.com aka hotmail is even worse imo. Gmail is better, but you never know what is down the track with them, as they have begun charging for some services.

Have you actually used Outlook.com lately or is this a "I used Hotmail five years ago, I love to hate Microsoft so I will say the new stuff is crap"?

It's pretty good, and actually a lot better than GMAIL. And it supports ActiveSync.

I have used it when setting up windows 8. Found it too disjointed, as it switches between hotmail, outlook, and live.com, and even the calender is still using an old hotmail/live interface. I can see how they have have tried to 'googlise' it though, with the minimal interface, when most parts now have that windows 8 look. I use normal Outlook 2010 myself with a hosted domain based email account and find that suits my needs.

But I wasn't really talking about the interface, I was more talking about reliability, and spam filtering, which hotmail used to be bad at. But maybe that side of things has improved.

We use Windows Live/Hotmail/Outlook.com for our business email and it works very well. It's been reliable and no spam issues.

I would certainly recommend it.
