I'd like to change the DNS settings, to an alternative DNS Server, but that part of the modem is locked down something terrible, and I can't do much.

Does anybody know of a method to unlock those settings?

I recall seeing something a few months ago like that for the older Technicolor ADSL modems, but not for the newer VDSL modems.

Does someone have any solutions?

There are a couple of other threads in here about these devices - yes, you can access the CLI to do most of the management you'd like. This post addresses DNS specifically.

Yep - CLI is your best bet (or setting DNS statically on the devices you want to use alternate DNS servers)

Of course, you will lose performance on some sites (like Akamai and Google services) but I presume you knwo that and your requirement trumps that issue.

You would hope so... since I always believe those that want to change their DNS tend to be mis-guided folks that really should not muck around with it, since then they tend to have a very poor browsing experience and blade Telecom for it.....

You don't need CLI to change the DNS servers.
