Has anybody else noticed congestion in the Hutt CBD lately when using Telecom XT for voice calls. I have had calls drop out, calls not connecting etc  noticed the problem has been getting worse lately.

Logged a fault with the mobile suppory team on 0800 800 163 as there are no known issues and they can check the frequency you get dropped.

Also contacted a few people who are also XT users they said they have been having the same problem and was reported to faults. Apparently the Hutt CBD site has had issues with congestion for the last three weeks.
This is the cellsite mounted on the Lower Hutt telephone exchange.

Telecom should chuck a site inside queensgate as mobile data is pretty much nonexistent in that concrete tomb.

You make it sound like any carrier can put mobile coverage / capacity where ever they like and it's no cost to the carrier and no permission is required

I disagree, apart from the area outside ASB, I have no trouble getting data in the rest of the mall.

(Except at xmas)

Makes you wonder what the salespeople say to prospective customers when trying to sell phones at the telecom shop in queensgate when the nearest cellsite goes down.

Surprising as it may sound, Westfield want big $$$ to install in building sites. You'd think it would be in their interests for their customers to have mobile coverage, but no, they want money for that..

When I was on vodafone and there was almost nothing in most of glenfield mall I complained to mall management and they didn't really seem to give a damn about it.

Just shop elsewhere?

Who knows what goes through the mall mgmts minds.. if you are talking on the phone then you are not shopping and thus a mall rat.

I would have thought that mall mgmt would want coverage since it would determine if I went in there or not (plus free parking) but who knows eh.
