Hi,

I've tried to forward my calls to another number but the caller ID isn't preserved (I get my own number on the destination).
I remember this isn't use to be the case (or I remember another carrier in another country many years back - or possibly Vodafone NZ, or even 2talk?).

Probably this is because they would have to forge the caller id (to match the originator) when forwarding the call and it may be illegal.

What I was trying to do is forward my unanswered calls to my 2talk number and have voicemail2email (I'm on an unlimited calls plan so I don't mind "paying" for the forwarded call) but if I don't get the original caller ID I'm not too keen in doing it.

I'm assuming that's that and there's nothing I can do?

Thank you.

What services are you using?

When you forward a call it's normal for the A party CID to be passed through. I've never seen B party unless it's a VoIP based setup that's not doing a SIP302 redirect.

It's a normal post-paid Telecom plan.
I used https://pwm.telecom.co.nz/mobileonliness/ to redirect the calls to my 2talk 028 number.

I rang from a Vodafone phone (021xxx) my telecom number (027xxx), after ringing 20 seconds it got redirected to the 2talk number, voicemail kicked in and I got an email from 2talk saying that there's a new voicemail from 027xxx (my telecom number).

Currently when someone rings my 2 Degrees mobile and I don't answer, the calls gets forwarded to my 2talk number where I have voicemail set up. 2Talk then email me the message, see below:

So my caller ID forwarding works.

===============

Hi Joel Johnson,

You have a 0:10 long new voicemail message (number 37) in mailbox 028xxxxxxx

from Wellington City Council (6444999999), on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 04:31:17 PM.

To hear the message open the attachment or dial *55 from your 2talk phone.

Hmm.. i'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I just remembered that I did a similar setup last month (I redirected my 027 telecom number to a vodafone number (021) and the caller ID was passed through correctly.

I'll do a bit of debugging tomorrow to see if I notice anything wrong..

Thanks.

Looks to be a bug in how 2talk manages these redirects.

If I redirect to a 09 2talk number (regional) it works as it should. If I redirect to an 028 2talk number the caller id is broken.

I've raised a ticket with them, let's see if it can be fixed.

Did you ever get this resolved?   I was with 2Degrees Mobile and this was working properly, but since switching to Spark mobile the originating caller ID is not preserved.

I don't think this is a 2Talk issue as it was working for me before I switched mobile providers.

From my experience, Spark is still having the same issue when forwarding to 2talk. My Vodafone mobile works perfectly though.

Is it only a problem with 028 numbers, or is it the same when forwarding a spark mobile number to another phone too?
