Hi

About a month ago we signed up for VDSL on Orcon, and they sent around a tech to do the install. However, he told us that we were too far away and there would be no point. Now, Telecom have offered us a VDSL deal. I was just wondering if we would be able to get it on Telecom rather than Orcon?

if you have already been denied for vdsl, trying again isnt going to get anywhere...

if you were denied, it would have been for good reason.

Around 750m from the cabinet assuming it is a straight line (about 830m actual - approx.) - I can tell you now you won't have a fun time with VDSL I am afraid. You're best to focus on getting your wiring up-to-scratch with a master filter.

If you attempt a VDSL installation you may get faster upload speeds if that is what you're after however you'll either get the same as or lower in the download speed department. I honestly think it isn't worth it.

24.5dB on adsl with a filter installation is defiantly outside of the bounds of vdsl unfortunately...

Good luck on that ;) I couldn't see your house in the UFB zone for the near future. Maybe even do a hunt for a wireless provider? I believe Vibe Communications offer a $150 plan w/ "uncapped" download and upload speed (so vastly better but not at all guaranteed) at around 40c per GB for traffic after 100gb? Not 100% sure on this but could be an avenue you could go down if you were really needing faster internet.
