Wasn't exactly sure where to post this but...

Am on Snap using UnoTelly DNS servers 103.6.212.24 and 54.252.112.136. Currently I cannot reach chorus.co.nz or telecom.co.nz. If I switch to Google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 I get the same thing. But if I switch to using Snap's DNS servers I get there just fine.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes same issue here and we're through Telecom at work.

The Gen-i Procurement Portal (Zeus) and My Gen-i Portal (MYGP) are also unreachable. :S

Parts of Chorus external-facing services are still hosted at Telecom. My guess is since both are hard to reach this is a Telecom problem.

Moving to correct forum.

I had the same problem yesterday using Mynxnet (which has a "Global Mode" service), although it was working again by the evening. I'm not at home now so I can't test again from there (it's working correctly here at work on FX fibre), but if Google's DNS was also affected then it is indeed likely to be a Telecom issue.

From NZNOG:

"

Just to add some details, the problem is related to the cyclic dependency between telecom.co.nz and spark.co.nz. When a cache tries to resolver telecom.co.nz, because the absence of glue records in the parent zone (co.nz), it will try to resolve spark.co.nz, which to be completed needs to resolve telecom.co.nz. Without a hint, there is no way to bootstrap the resolution process, so it fails.

It's up to Telecom to have it fixed, hopefully it will be done sometime soon.

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

Yes, who ever updated the DNS left the glue out of the whois database for telecom.co.nz.  They fixed it just after 10am but it didn't push back in to the dns until the 11am push.

I feel for whoevers fault that was.  A very big day of stress for an outstanding mistake. :(

This was raised to them yesterday by another ISP, but they didn't do anything about it...
Guess as DNS caches expired the effects started to become apparent

Sounds like this Spark re-branding is kicking their butts.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Really.

No, this is just very poor.

They are very lucky that 99.999999999% of people, even in the IT community, don't actually understand what went wrong.

I've stuffed this up in my very under resourced little enterprise.  But in a space the size of Telecom with the resource it has?
