Hi

Have this connection rate and want to check if its worth giving Spark a call. Filters on lines etc...
I've rebooted this device a few times over the last 2 months and I think its connectioned at a Downstream rate of 16000kbps a couple of times but usually at 6000 which is very low.

Based on this, is it worth calling? Not sure how close the nearest cabinet is to Cape Horn Road (Auckland).

It would appear that getting '6' in a '10' area is probably all that it is.

Opinion required: Switch to VDSL?

If you average around the 14-16Mb range there probably is an issue.
It's not too uncommon for this to happen, Try reboot your modem a couple times to try get the sync rate back up.
If that fails give spark a call and they should be able to work some magic on the exchange :)

Your SNR is quite high, which usually means that it has been dropping out because of noise. Hopefully if you leave it for a while it should go down.

Also, with that attenuation VDSL isn't really an option

coult it be the modem? telecom modems are pretty basic but they give you good line speed

Defiantly go a master filter.

If it still happens after there, you can be sure your internal wiring is counted out.

9/10 times internal wiring is to blame for issues like this.

Your in auckland, so ild suggest talking to Coffeebarron about having him do you a master filter.

Looks like all of cape horn road is supplied by BHB/BL (on Hillsborough road opposite James Tyler Cres) - just to make it clear which cabinet is yours isnt always the closest one, l43a2 cap would probably confuse you a little with that one since BHB/K is closer.

Depending on how far down the road you are, there is a Reasonable chance you may be able to squeeze in as a borderline connection... considering your SNR is hiding high likely due to your internal wiring, your attenuation may drop a tad after a splitter installation.

That 18dB attenuation suggests an intermittent connection or similar somewhere - shouldn't normally vary more than about 0.5 from 12.0 unless something is introducing a lot of noise and then going away.

I would try a different modem, personally. In my experience, if there's even the tiniest bit of issue with the line, the Draytek will throw a wobbly and drop speed right back to 'stabilise'.

Thank you all for you time, care and attention.

I have had two different Netgear modems on it. The D6300 and I think a D2200. Both with the same results. I think I shall get in touch with CoffeeBaron and then then look at this after the master spliter is in.
