Hi guys,

I am getting VDSL this friday and Spark have sent me a HG630b modem. My question is, can I use my Netgear DGND4000 instead?

I know it says ADSL but it also has a Cable/Fiber port.

It would just be handy to not connect about 15 devices to a new router.

Any help would be appreciated!

you could configure your spark modem to have the same SSID etc, that would create a seamless transition to a new router.

you cant use the DGND4000 directly, but you could possibly bridge from the HG630b assuming it supports bridge mode.

No it's not a VDSL modem just disable DHCP on the Netgear, make sure it has an IP on the same range as the Telecom router and plug it into a LAN port on each then continue to use it for Wireless.

I did this today and everything works great. The guy installing VDSL is coming tomorrow. Thanks everyone!

Just thought I'd give you guys an update....

So the Chorus guy came 10 days ago and was at my house for 15 - 20 minutes. He fitted one black and one white box next to the router and said give it about 2 hours and the "internet LED" will light up and you'll have VDSL. Sure enough an hour and a half later the LED lit up and i was surfing the net. My speeds before were 9-10mbps down and 0.8mbps up.

This is now (been like this for 3 days)

Pretty happy about it considering I live about 1km from the exchange

So something positive for Spark and Chorus!
