Hi there

I'm looking at moving to BigPipe UFB (now with more Wellington! :)) and the only question I have is around what people have found to be best modem/router.

Currently I have a very old NetGear modem/router with an Apple Airport Extreme plugged into it.

What are y'all using?

Cheers

You could just use the Apple Airport Extreme if you want. Which plan are you looking at?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm looking at the 200/200 unlimited.

I was wondering if I could use the Airport Extreme.... What controls logging on to the network?

You just plug the Airport into the ONT and configure it to run PPPoE to login.

Which version of the Airport Extreme are you using?

I use an Asus RT-AC87U, absolute beast of a modem/router and excellent wireless coverage. The 68U is also excellent and a bit cheaper too.

At present a Juniper SRX240 but it's a bit overkill for home use :)

One of the new, tower shaped ones (with a 2TB drive in it)

Thanks for pointing me to the PPPoE option - looking through the Airport Utility I found it easily :)  I've read in other threads about requiring VLAN tagging for UFB and that the AP Extreme doesn't support it?

BigPipe doesn't do VLAN tagging unless if you request it.

I have got a WRT1900AC laying around if you find the Airport Extreme doesn't cut it.
