So I was messing around today, and decided to do a traceroute to google.co.nz.

It went through about 5 servers that were all named things like ae8-10.akbr6.global-gateway.net.nz but slight variations

Then through 2 random IP addresses, and ended up at syd09s01-in-f3.1e100.net, which i assume is where google.co.nz is stored.

So who is Global Gateway? I tried googling it but found not much of interest (or that I could understand, not being a network engineer)

I did find however a site called stats.ggi.net.nz which when visited has the spark logo in the corner and a login prompt, which I assume is for Spark tech support as my Spark login didn't work there.

"Global-Gateway-Internet-Service is Sparks managed IP Internet access service enabling access for New Zealand and Australian wholesale and retail customers (business and consumer) to global Internet services via its international links (primarily cable systems)."
