I don't think your username would affect your speed, even if you had a "slowdsl", hehe.

I think xtra have your jetstream plan attached to your physical line. Im pretty sure you can use any xtra username / password and it will still get billed to you.

Thats right. You can use any username/password combo as long as it is an .xadsl@xtra.co.nz username. On Go Large, you can connect without a username but it causes issues for your usage meter. On all other plans you need to put in a username/password. Its best to use a username which is on your own account however, so you are able to log in with your username/password in the usage meter & get the correct phone line.

Usage is billed to your phoneline.
Your profile is landline specific too.

Your username that you type in for the usage meter should be associated with your phone number, so usage done under another username on the same phone number should appear on your usage meter.

This means - you cannot take an username from a full speed-full speed line and try it on a fullspeed-128kbps line and expect any difference in speed. Nor can you share usage.

While you can share logins, you cannot share logins with static IP addresses. If two or more login with the same username, bad things happen (you can't get data).
Go Large is different - but with no cap, there is really no need for an usage meter unless you want bragging rights...
