Seriously, I just got the modem today and my speeds average between 20-40 Mbps, I love that its prepaid and that for $130 I can get 200GB data (cancel and rebuy) compared to Vodafone's 80GB plan for nearly the same price.

I've been so used to 1.5Mbps down and when I first used the new connection, I was blown away! And even before I got the broadband, I had an issue with my mobile account and the support was nice, fast and polite. I seriously can't overstate how awesome this is for me.

EDIT: Yes I know it uses Spark's 4G and everything but Skinny was the one that bought us the sensible priced option

What are you comparing? Vodafone unlimited VDSL broadband is $105.

As mentioned, I have a 1.5Mbps connection. I live rural. I don't have VDSL here but when I was looking into RBI, Vodafone was just too expensive for the data we got.

Personally I'd want even more data. I'd pay in the ballpark of 150-200 to get 500GB

People here laughed at me 5 years ago for expecting an unlimited data option, then scorned me again about two years ago when I suggested that RBI had plenty of room for improvement in data allowance and price, so now I just expect that all the things we dream of are possibilities we just have to have the patience to see happen!

60Gb for $55 per month
100Gb for $65 per month

If I assume (probably wrongly) that there profit margin is the same on both products, the cost could be expressed as:

$40 Fixed cost, then 25c/GB

If this cost structure is true, then they could offer a 500GB plan for $165 per month

Of course skinny marketing is clean and simple. Can't have too many product offerings or marketing message gets to complicated. Also they are targeting the lower cost end of the market, while good value, an internet plan over $150 a month is clearly a more premium product.

Well, since it really is pay as you go, just renew your data packs each time they run out and see if you'd actually USE 500gb regularly? The months you do would cost more than your $200 budget, but any months less would save your 'unused'/unspent extra and likely cover it?

What exactly do you need 500gb for?

Possibly, but I think they have to consider the capacity of the towers too, to ensure good service for their customers and Spark customers still.

I'd suggest measuring your RL downloading and see if you really need 500gb. I stream 2-3hours NF a day in a mix of 720p and 1080p (kids cartoons on low) and happily survive on 100gb. Admittedly I save about 20gb/month on updating apps on the iPhone and iPad by doing them at the work on their unlimited fibre link, but still... well within your $200 target even with a second or third 100gb pack.

I actually live with my parents atm since I'm 18 and I have my brother and two cousins PLUS my grand parents living all in one house. When you have 4 teenagers in the house, the internet usage typically skyrockets.

My parents are considering paying for 200GB and me and my cousin splitting the cost of the last 100GB to hit 300GB total, maybe that'll be enough?
