Just a question about moving the modem.

I gather it can only be used at one address, and if you move you have to notify them of the address change which may or may not allow you back on the network depending on local conditions.

But what happens if you want to move regularly between two locations, and those locations share the same cell site? Is it really necessary for technical reasons to notify of an address change then?

If the sectors are on different sides of the tower it would be somewhat obvious....

Then it sounds like I need to get a couple of second hand skinny wireless modems and then activate/deactivate them as I need them depending upon where I am. Though I am guessing it would be a full month prepaid each time.

I have moved one between sectors on same site and have not had an issue; not saying that you won't have issues doing so. I guess you could try and if there is an issue say opps sorry I forgot to update my address :)

I guess the whole point is to prevent over provisioning. But is that per directional antenna on a tower, or is for the whole tower? If it's for the whole tower, then it shouldn't matter. But if it's per antenna, then moving even to an adjacent cell could be an issue.

But then, how many people in Karori are using wireless broadband? I'd be very surprised if they were close to capacity in the middle of Karori.

This streetview from Feb 2015 has it as a sector design... may have changed since then obviously!

And can you send and receive SMS on the device?

technically it is a implementation of VoIP over a separated voice network (obviously with QOS)

Spark's voice network currently can't be provisioned on a Skinny connection.

I'd essentially put voice in as a "Value added service".
