Just got an email saying as from September 30th no more $11 movies at Event. Used them quite a bit as Event was the closest theater chain.

Last chance for $11 movie tickets.

We've loved being able to bring you $11 movie tickets for the last few years, but all good things must come to an end. So we wanted to let you know that on 30 September 2017, we'll be ending our partnership with EVENT Cinemas and the other independent cinemas involved with $11 movie tickets and candy bar upgrades.

As someone who uses our $11 movie tickets, we know this isn't the best news. So we wanted to let you know now, so you have plenty of time to sneak in a couple more movies before the end of September. And if you're really into going to the movies, you can sign up to the EVENT Cinemas rewards programme Cinebuzz"

And gone is the free wifi to 3 devices (only one now). They seem to be getting rid of all sorts of perks. Wonder why

Was pretty much the only reason Ive stayed with Spark - used it all the time. Time to convince the flatmates to ditch the landline nobody uses and go cheaper elsewhere Im guessing.. Oh well..

I think Spotify is safe, on the movie page they say they're stopping it to concentrate more on their music offerings.

Where is the info about the wifi device limit?

They signed an extended contract with Spotify for two more years, so pretty safe :)

Good bloody question. I tried renewing my 2 devices....and the initial sign in page still said up to 3 devices...but when I tried to add the 2nd it said only one allowed. I queried with spark and they told me:

"Thanks for your patience, I've been informed there's been a change with the service terms of conditions and access to the Free Wi-Fi hotspot is now limited to one device per account. ^VN"

to which I replied

"Your vouchers do not say this. Only when attempting to use it. And I never saw any customer communication about this. Disappointing I'd say"

and got

"Thanks David for taking the time to provide us your feedback and I understand your disappointment there. The information on the webpage will be updated to reflect the changes very soon. ^VN" as reply.

Last time I went to the movies I used the spark promo, found out visa were also doing a promo for $11.20 tickets ($10 plus the booking fee) with a free icecream per ticket. So got the tickets using the visa promo and the popcorn / drink using the spark promo. Had a happy girlfriend and wallet :p

From where I am theres two cinemas near by (Event Westcity - its a dump but oh well & Reading New Lynn - its nice but the GF doesnt like it!) that charge $8.50 and $10 respectively so I guess I'll frequent them more often!

I could never work out how to get these tickets. I click on the Spark link to Events cinema, pick my movie and get charged $20. Was I doing something wrong?

I only go to the cinema once or twice a year so no biggie

Check the orices. Many theatres are dropping to closer to $10 to compete with Reading. Use it or lose it.

I used it a bit (maybe once or twice a month). Will miss it but signed up to cinebuzz now so will just use that.

I'm hoping they zero rate spotify streaming music. Now that pandora is leaving nz/au I will be using spotify a lot more now.

I wonder how long lightbox has got as a free addon, especially with netflix also now being offer. I am a bit surprised they are getting rid of $11 movies, because don't vodafone do a similar deal?

I am pretty happy with all the stuff that comes along with my account. I think it was a year free Netflix (Shove that where the sun don't shine sky), Spotify and they paid half of my S8 as I was due for an account change.

Run unlimited fibre with them and my missus has her phone with them as well. Not worried about the movie tickets as we don't go that often.

All in all pretty happy with the service I have had out of them over the past 15 years.
