Hey Guys,

Very long time & no posts.

So i have done a couple of these setups before to add an internet connection to sites where it is not available.

I usually simply connect the USB modem to the Router, Set the router up to "3G Modem Router" Mode, You get some drop downs for the ISP selection which are:

Location: New Zealand ISP: Telecom Dial Number: *99# APN: Internet

You can put in the user name & password but never have put anything in.

Anyway it won't connect or recognize the device, I have done this twice before with different version routers of the same make & model.

Any ideas?

I guess you have checked the TP-Link router is on the latest firmware?

EDIT: Depending on the age of the router it doesnt look like there have been updates for a while unless it is a v4 version.

There was a forum on Whirlpool about which modem sticks worked with this model in Australia. Looks like results were mixed.

Yeah I have used both V3 & V4, both worked now i have both versions again & it won't work on either.

The other units i have used have never to my knowledge caused any faults & are still working now.

Factory reset on the router?

Does it make a difference if the router is powered off before adding the USB stick?
