We have a local 0800 service desk number routed to Oz through a Spark SIP service.

As of this morning, all calls to this number get the enlightening voicemail "Weasels have eaten our phone system" and hangs up.

Quick search reveals this is one of the standard audio files hidden in the folders of an Asterix VOIP server, alongside other amusing ones...

My question is, are others having this issue or is it affecting our setup only? Currently on a long hold for Spark...

Well Spark certainly don't run Asterisk.

How is the 0800 number being terminated when it gets to AU? And when you say "routed through a Spark SIP service", do you have a local PBX here in NZ that has Spark trunks, and then the PBX does the forwarding of the 0800 DDI through to AU? If so, what type of PBX do you run in NZ? Or are you saying the 0800 is simply directed to an AU number at the Spark level (in which case there is no way that message comes from Spark)
