Do Telecom intentionally screw up provisioning?  I'm really beginning to wonder, because this is not the first time this has happened for me.

I finally managed to convince my boss to move away from the telco giant, in favour of a better deal from another ISP.

It would appear that the provisioning was complete (yeah, right) late yesterday afternoon.  So this morning, ADSL signal is up, but authentication is a no go.

Is it too much to ask that provisoning changes be done right the first time?

Ughhh... does anyone else feel my pain?

isn't that got to do with the isp ? or the port has gone faulty

i mean when we do provisioning its just simple run some jumpers to the broadband port (  test it first to see if it is all in working order )

Only way i think is either somebody signed off the wrong job id or they have signed it off and forgot about it

Yes, actually Telecom do screw up on purpose, what I can I say, they just love the media attention Innocent

So why would this be Telecom's fault again?

Telecom do not provision broadband access for other providers, if you rung up another provider then they would have either taken the access off Telecom and run your broadband access on their equipment if it is an unbundled exchange, or wholesaled it off Telecom, either way it is not Telecoms responsibility to ensure the connection is up and running once it has been released. However, their Chorus unit do alot of the physical connections at the exchanges for multiple providers. If the signal is up, but you cannot connect, it sounds like the port has been connected, but something is not set up right either on your computer or on the ISPs systems, therefore you should get in touch with the new ISP who actioned your request.

All my Internets is pwned by Orcon!  Hurray!  :)

Tunneling issue, I was told.  And a support ticket was left with Telecom.
40 hours without a connection.  Luckily school is out, and there's only a skeleton staff around.
Imagine the uproar if this wasn't working for when school started on Monday.

I stand by my original point though, get it right, the FIRST time!

Actually its called wholesale provisioning and they often do make mistakes along the way resulting in Fail self installs of other ISPs. The telecom WBS conection does not require a PVC tunnel to work as authentiocation goes via their proxy radius. When you switch to anther wholesale ISP the authentication is encripted via a tunnel to the ISP for authentication on their LNS/radius. Its the creation of this tunnel that costs folk $49 transition fee so as people are paying for it, it would be nice to get it the first time around :)

Its one story to have the BB provisioned and somehow not have DSL on a new install (port miss jumpering) however when the port is already in-tact then there is no chances of this as no techs go out to do any physical jumpering. Start to throw in Voice products into the mix (voice with one provider and BB with anther) and all sorts of mistakes can be made.

So in reality things do often go wrong with WBS -> USB transitions in my experience and therefore this guys pain is felt!

luckily the folk you need to talk to , to get this stuff sorted out are nice people
