Been a Spark customer for a while and when looking to upgrade my plan I noticed they had changed the text on the plans page to read "Spotify Premium for up to 24 months". I wonder if they are looking at bringing it to an end. "Up to" could mean 1 week! Strange wording.

I think because it's on your account as a $14.99 credit, this means if you use 14.99 a month it's available for 24 months, but if you had a family pack which is $21.99 it wouldn't be for 24 months.

I have no knowledge of Spark intending to end it, it's been a successful addition to their incentives packages. All things do end however, so who knows!

Spotify premium isn't going away.

It's a change on wording and back end change is all.

to an end user makes no difference, you have a plan and it lasts for the life of that plan.

The 24 months relates to the length of the Spark mobile plans not the future of Spotify.

https://www.spark.co.nz/help/get-more/spotify/activate-spotify/

Spotify Premium is included for up to 24 months on selected Spark Pay Monthly mobile plans

The way it is written is seems to be a plan feature that is limited to 24 months while your plan is active. It ends after the 24 months. It does not seem related to the offer itself.

I didn't think it was possible to use the Spark Spotify incentive for a family plan (in any way).  Is this incorrect?  I'm eligible foe Spotify discount but don't use if because I need a family plan; I'm sure there are others in the same situation

I recently (last week) changed my plan from the 'old' $59 (4GB) plan to the current $59 4GB Carrryover, and I asked about this.  I was told the old 4GB plan has Spotify for the life of the plan, but as soon as I changed to the Rollover plan, Spotify is free for the next 24 months, then it costs if you want to keep it.

I can't answer that categorically, but most of these offers are putting "value" onto your account equal to 12 months x the $ of the plan they have offered you. In my case, with VF I got Netflix $12.99 but as I was on a higher plan it just applied the account credit.

My parents-in-law have the Spotify option on their Spark account. I did the setup for them when installing the Sony Android TV some time ago and it's not a value in your account (like the Netflix voucher, which could be even used with a US account). In the Spotify case it simply zeros the account every month.

@hio77 can you clarify this thread with the Spark boffins incharge of Spotify, was speaking with a Spark member in Bayfair Tauranga yesterday, they mentioned that Spotify, if obtained after November ( I think) 2018 is only valid for free, for 24 months or whilst I stay on an eligible plan, if I move to an ineligible plan or at the end of the 24 month period Spotify is no longer covered regardless of what plan I’m am on. This sounded odd to me as i thought the cost of a skinny plan and Spotify is cheaper than what I pay today, it is just dahm convenient that Spark takes care of Spotify, I though any company tries to increase revenue per customer not decrease it, correct me The info I was given is wrong. Sorry not too sure who I spoke to was just passing through on the way to the Cricket.

This sounds like they're adjusting their plans to encourage users to resign / move to a newer plan after the 24 months. I imagine (if they still offer it) that you'll get another 24 months if you move to a newer plan once it runs out?

Years ago I got the free spotify plan, and still use it even though the option has gone. Maybe the idea of time limiting it is to stop people like me having it forever.

Not according to the rep I was speaking with, should have mentioned I did ask this and the answer was No, the Spotify freebie can only be used once on the given number, wonder what would happen if one ports away then ports back in, would spark say “sorry the Spotify freebie against this number has already been used” I doubt it but we all know what assume can be broken out to :)

@kornflake I'll ask the right folks for a clear answer for you.

I wasn't part of the team that built the changes, while i understand a fair bit about it. I'm not sure i have all the answers to respond at this stage.

Note: that team and myself are still on holiday, will not be getting back to you on that this week.
