Has anyone had any luck recently getting goodwill & loyalty credit from Spark recently? Every 12 months I ring up and get them to price match what the competition is doing, and they do this by offering the above credits to bring the bill down. However, when I rung up today they didn't want to offer anything passed the advertised plans. I was apparently on the retention team but when I said that I was most likely going to be moving fibre/landline & mobile to another provider they didn't seem fussed. Just said that they no longer have the option to do anything more because of the new unplan.

Thanks

Not sure why you'd feel bound to Spark at this point. NZ has a tonne of great ISPs, the only major one to avoid would be Vodafone. I'd recommend 2degrees as well, though most others are good too.

Can't expect them to bend over annually.

Not a fan of Vodafone? I am with them personally (the enquiry is about my parent's place) and apart from a few billing errors that eventually got fixed I'm happy. out of the big players, they seem to have the best deal going as well, $75 for fibre with a landline. (2° $85 & Spark $90)

For as long as I can remember each time I ring they seem happy to assume the position, just not this year.

Count yourself lucky you were successful all those times.  Spark has changed the way they offer services to be more flexible and to cover a range of budgets.  That's in response to competition but also customer action such as yours.  You've done well to date, now there are other options available to you.

if your calling every 12 months for it, i wouldn't call that a goodwill credit at all personally.

Unplan is quite a different prop to what is out there in the market, part of this is it does not have reoccurring credits.

You can drop $10 off by not taking the Entertaiment package now.

It brings Sparks price down closer to others which is probably why no deals, plus with unplan if have a small month save even more.

In the middle of switching to Now! NZ from Spark. For the past 2 years Spark was able to give me a $15/month discount but in Dec (when it ended) I called and they were not able to offer ANY credit discount. Instead they were trying to move me to fibre broadband as copper lines incurred an extra $15/month charge difference.

I've made attempts in the past to have fiber properly installed on my property but Enable (local Chch) would only offer me a shoddy cable run along a 30m length fence - easily accessible by a burglar that wants to cut the line and render my house alarm monitoring useless. Of course I could upgrade my alarm panel to have a cellphone card (yes $ / month for that service) vs now it's program to call over the copper line to my cellphone / and others on the list. Can't negate any savings when alarm upgrade maybe $500 for install + $10/month cellphone # access.

Then NOW! NZ Broadband came along. Apparently they are giving me full landline package, unlimited broadband, caller ID display, + the extra 'Faxability' 2nd ph# for $81/month on a 12 month contract. Also they told me that I can ditch my old ADSL modem and use any VDSL modem I can buy for faster broadband. I've picked up a 2nd hand Huawei VDSL modem for $8. Thing is in the past other providers could not give me the full landline package that Spark does such as 2nd ph# Faxability. Yes I know i've been told to get with the times and ditch faxes but we have people that still are hard core fax users.

Would be interested to hear from others how they're experiencing NOW! NZ??

More like Spark had been overcharging customers for years by manipulation. They won't simply put the price down to compete but wait for 'some' of their customers to call in. It's a horrible way to maintain loyalty.

The only reason we've been with Spark for so long (9 years) is the other providers didn't have much for landline. Specifically we needed Faxability which gives us a 2nd # on the same line. I don't think Vodafone, 2 Degrees, Slingshot, etc had that option (the last I checked).

I think you are out of touch. Who has sales, Briscoes annual sales mean that they are overcharging the rest of the time? Everybody manipulates pricing, its marketing.

Don't even know where to begin with this other than to say I emphatically disagree with your assessment.
