Hi all, I have a DSL G604T router and  over the last month or so, our downloads have got slower and slower to the point where its become infuriatingly slow. I have a Dell Inspiron 530S with 3Gig Ram, OS is Vista Home

Can someone throw some light on this fellas plight. The stats are as follows:

ADSL Firmware Version: 7.03.01.00 - 7.03.01.00 - 7.03.01.00 Annex A - 01.07.2c - 0.54 ADSL Software Version: V3.00B01T01.TX.20070517 Line State Connected Modulation ADSL_G.dmt Annex Mode Annex A Max Tx Power -38 dBm/Hz   Item Downstream Upstream Unit SNR Margin 8 13 dB Line Attenuation 43 30 dB Data Rate 64 672 kbps

Driving me nuts and dont know what to do

what provider are you with and what locality are you in ?

Maybe that has some influence?

I am with Telecom in Henderson/Glendene area and finding my HTTP data is incredibly slow at the moment

But I am presently unsure why - not sure if its a local issue or a routing issue

Interestingly my tracert seems to pause as can be seen by the * on the data below

So... maybe you could also check what routing your data is taking

I could easily be wrong - but i am bemused why my trace goes down to southnet.co.nz which im assuming is the slow boat route

lol

Please feel free to correct me on any of this as routing and DNS is NOT what I know much about (obviously)

Cheers

Just to help him out (down/up):

SNR Margin 8 13 dB
Line Attenuation 43 30 dB
Data Rate 64 672 kbps

Yeah, I can see that you've got 64kbps down...
Wait... isn't that a popular method of throttling? Smile

Yea, that's what I thought it looked like, so that's why I ask to confirm. That is obviously the problem if it is.

well! for my first attempt at posting a problem, my presentation was as bad as my problem ...

However ... a tech arrived from Chorus, and discovered that the previous occupant /owner had done a lot of networking and at one of the junctions, discovered that he got a fast download, applied a splitter and now i have gone from downstream of 64 to 3898 !!

so, problem solved (i only hope the bill doesnt arrive as fast as the speed)

So appreciate the responses.  (he wouldnt touch the networking stuff though, in case it upset the apple cart)
