I'm looking for a new ISP and just checked this forum for comments on Telecom broadband performance.  But I can't find any recent complaints - does this mean that you're all happy with Telecom, or have just got used to poor performance?

Thanks in advance.

Telecom have improved dramiticly since 2 years ago, when I was last on them.

They seem to be one of the few isps that can provide any consistint speeds Intl/nat

I've been with Telecom for my bb for over 2 years.  Never had any major problems and speed has always been fine for me.  Had a couple of minor connection issues but these were resolved by the helpdesk for me.  The helpdesk can be time consuming sometimes to get a problem fixed but if you be patient i reckon they sort it in the end.

I too have changed recently after recommendations from other Telecom customers, and am surprised by the performance. It's been excellent.

I think there has been a real turn around with Telecom BB over the last year, the plans are getting better, pricing could still be lower but I expect it is just where the market is at. Nows a good time to connect with them as there is that free wireless modem

Thanks everyone for your feedback.  Looks like a good option if my present ISP can't stop my connection going down for half an hour every couple of days.  In fact, I'll probably change anyway as it would be really nice not to have my connection shaped to hell every evening!

I too am looking at moving from Orcon to another ISP...possibly Telecom. How is the International Gaming with Telecom?  Any Packet Loss? Latency? Pauses?  Bandwidth Bursts? Orcon is terrible for gaming! I want an ISP that gives me a connection that consistently flows without stop/start bandwidth bursts. Is Telecom that ISP now?

Thanks

I'm also interested in comments on gaming on Telecom.

What's the performance to Aussie FPS (COD etc) servers like?
What's the performance in wow like, I haven't been playing in months but I'm thinking of making a casual hero comeback!

Telecom came first in the latest IDG ISP performance testing, and they are now optimising their network for VOIP and real time apps like gaming, they are much improved.

i seriously dont know how you all can be impressed with telecoms performance. we didnt get our broadband set up for 2 weeks. we have had constant outages, some lasting for atleast 2 days, our speeds are close to that of dial up (upload is about 8KBPS, and download is about 160KBPS). i really dont like telecom, they said our internet goes as fast as our line allows. but we have had speeds just below 300KBPS. and my friend who lives not to far away has speeds of 600KBPS-1MBPS.

really hate telecom. almost as much as vodafone.
