HiI have an Xtra supplied DSL 302G modem.   Can I connect this to a D-Link unmanaged switch and share my Internet connection?    If so what settings so I need to change on the 302G?  I previously had a D-Link DI-524 router connected to the DSL-302G and was using DHCP to automatically assign IP addresses.  Can I set up the 302G to do this?CheersRichard

Richard,

If your DSL-302G is currently plugged into your PC via an ethernet cable and your PC is assigned an IP via DHCP then yes an unmanaged switch will work just fine! Smile

Cheers
Chris

Hi
My 302G is current plugged into a D-Link 524 router.  My PCs are all connected to the router which acts as a DHCP server and assigns IP address in the range 192.168.0.X.     I understanding from reading that the DSL-302G can also act as a a DHCP server and can distribute IP address to my LAN connected PCs.   I am just not sure what I need to do to get this to work.  Basically what I want to do is to replace my D-Link router with the D-Link unmanaged switch and still be able to access the internet on the PCs connected to the switch?CheersRichard

Richard,

By having your modem plugged into your router you could discover some problems. Getting an unmanaged will work fine and avoid any problems as you will not have two DHCP servers and possibly not two devices trying to do NAT (Network Address Translation)

Cheers
Chris
