I'm staying with a relative and she has ADSL with Spark. As there are extra people in the house her data usage has gone up. Her plan is a 60GB plan but I can't find any information on Spark's website about overage charges (it seems to have disappeared).

Can someone from Spark please let me know how much she will be charged if she goes over her 60GB allowance?

Possibly Spark Unplan?

Sounds like it,

From memory its $10 per step, so if you go up to the 60-120GB its $10 and then if you are over 120 its another $10,

So all up she might have to find another $20 ... so don't sweat it

Just checked her last invoice, apparently it's a "Home Xtra BB package, 60GB" if that makes any difference? I couldn't see Unplan mentioned anywhere.

For sure. But is it really only $10 more if the 60GB is exceeded?

You probably need to call spark and ask as it may be different for that old plan.

The current terms don't seem to mention overage charges but an old copy says

"3. Exceeding your monthly data allowance
If you exceed your monthly allowance you will be charged in data blocks of 5GB each at $5 up to a maximum of $50 at which point you will receive no extra data charges until your next billing cycle."

Okay thanks, I will. I've reached out to Spark to try and find out.

Yep. Call Spark. Jump online and check out the current plans too.

Has this relative ever signed up to MySpark? You should be able to change plans online without needing to call.

She's on My Spark now and that's where we saw her usage was about to go over.
No point changing her to a higher plan, she doesn't even use near 60GB normally.
I made contact with Spark but they won't tell me anything as I'm not the account holder, so I'll ask her to contact them herself.

Ask  your relative to put you as a contact on their account, so you can then contact them directly

Hi Quickymart, unfortunately from that desciption on the bill there are two possibilities as to the correct answer (plan is quite old as you know!) so can't answer purely based on that.

From the info I have the two possibilities are:

1/ Old plan: Overage is charged in 5GB blocks at $5 each, with a max of 10 of them (after which it is unlimited).

2/ Ancient plan: Overage is charged at $1/GB with no max charge

We believe it's more likely to be (1) above, but the customer would need to contact us to be positive.

She found the answer from Spark eventually - $10 per 10GB, so I'll make sure she pays an extra $20 to cover it.

Thanks for all the replies 🙂

Oh I paid $25 in the end as I was staying over two billing cycles, using data amounts she normally wouldn't use at all 😀

We did look into Spark Wireless and it is available there, but it has a "stop sell" at the moment, meaning she could only get 40GB at the moment, which is less than what she gets now, which is frustrating as wireless would be a really good solution in her situation - she's quite a long way from the cabinet.

You may find there in the near future there will be more capacity on her tower when the NEAX shutdown happens in her area (which will force her off ADSL)

What area are we talking about?
