I currently have 3x consecutive local numbers.

385 2XX5 - 2talk Line
385 2XX6 - Telecom POTS line with ADSL (And the number people have to reach us)
385 2XX7 - Telecom Faxability number on the 385 2XX6 line.

What I am wanting to do is swap the X5 and X6 numbers.

That is have 385 2XX6 on 2talk and 385 2XX5 as our POTS number. The reason for this is I want the extra functionality of the 2talk server on our main number (The calls would also simultaniously ring on the POTS line).

What I am wanting to know is can I do this easily, without screwing with the ADSL on the line? Or is it a major for Telecom to do?

Should I port the 385 2XX5 number back to Telecom first, have them swap the numbers and then port 385 2XX6 to iTalk?

Messing with numbers & ADSL can be hit n miss without dropping the broadband with it, esp with adding a number port to the mix.

I'd probably suggest turning you faxiblity number into dedicated fax/pots failover line.

1. swap x6 & x7 around - advise Telecom about the ADSL on this line, and request they swap these without affecting the ADSL if possible (if ADSL not with Telecom, could be more complex)

2. once x6 & X7 are swapped, you can now port the x6 (now faxiblity number) to 2talk

You will then have 2x 2talk lines taking advantage of all the VoIP stuff, and the POTS line will be there for failover & sending/receiving fax.

Thanks for that. I still want to have seperate Fax and Phone on the POTS line because while the main number will be VoIP, it will also ring the POTS line as well as VoIP phones in the house, so only want 1x VoIP line and 1x POTS line + Faxability.

Might try porting the X5 number back to Telecom first, and getting them to switch that with X6, then port X6 out

No worries: of course you can have both VoIP numbers ring etc too

If you do decide the port back, and you have an unused 2nd phone pair, then:
-port back the number to 2nd phone pair
-move broadband onto ported back line
-move faxibilty number to ported back line
-port current pots to 2talk
