Hi. Im getting warnings on my phone about it using 3G, and warning that 3G is going to be turned off
Warnings via txt & a warnings when I try to call someone

My phone is 4G & I can see it connected to 4G+ (the 4G icon) . In the phone settings 4G preferred is selected
Is this just a mistake or something else going on ?
I am considering a new phone , but not a good time at the mo, too many bills to pay .
Cheers

I can see it connected to 4G+

While you're in a call?

Check during a call. I suspect it's changing to 3G, i.e. VoLTE is either disabled or not available on your phone.

Yup this will be the case, if it is using 3G for calling the device will become a tablet come December 31 and will be good for data only

its likely dropping back to 3G when connected to a call as it doesnt support VoLTE.

@1101 Why would you not post the most important bit of information phone make and model?

As above just cause you see a 4G icon when not on a call does not mean much at all what does it display when on a voice call?

I’ve seen plenty of phones that will show 4g , but it’s only data … they can’t do VOLTE and rely on 3G for voice

Telling us the make/model would also help.

Spark are trying to proactively warn people about this impending shutdown.

And generally, if they tell you its not going to work, it won't.

So i would probably be looking for a new phone.

I have got the SMS on all my xiaomis, but I have enabled it with the code. The only one I get the voice warning on is my oldest one which I like for voice calls because it isnt infested with the google dialer so call recording works as it should, and that is only on 1 sim since it only does 4g on a single sim. The prior issues with it not working for SMS with VoLTE on seems to have come right at least on Mighty and Skinny so I will keep using it when I have to call places that you want a good record of what they promised.

Scroll down on this page https://www.spark.co.nz/online/shop/mobile-devices/3g-shutdown to the IMEI checker if you want to know for sure.
Follow the instructions on how to find your IMEI and enter it in.

Google search for your motorola handset and VoLTE

To check and enable it, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Advanced, and ensure "4G calling" is turned on.

Further to this VoLTE still may not work even if you try and enable due to no VoLTE profile support
