Hey, does anyone with an iPhone 3G running on XT have any clue how to track data usage?  Is it possible to access T-World and/or the Your Telecom service through the Safari browser?  I can't find any info on the Telecom site about how to track usage, apart from through the Your Telecom portal!

T-World is a WAP site the iphone / iphone 3G do not support WAP

This is why the iphone on Vodafone NZ could not connect to vodafone live

Thanks John.

For other iPhone users out there on XT - calling *333 will give you a balance on data usage. Texting BAL to 333 doesn't give you any data usage information at this stage.

Im thinking about getting an iphone from Voda and running on XT have you had any problems getting it working? are you running the standard software or does it have to be jail broken? cheers

I did exactly that, other than changing the APN, I've had no problems whatsoever, and must say it runs like a breeze :P

Usge is easily checked, there are two ways to keep track. you need your telecom account number and mobile number, you can go to www.telecom.co.nz/mbbalerts and register for email and text alerts at a % level or fixed usage. you can also check current and previous usage. I have also used the apn settings wap.telecom.co.nz and internet.telecom.co.nz and both work, however I do not know the address for tworld yet, too busy to look at the moment but will find out in all good time

Hey, my experience switching the iPhone from Voda to XT has been a piece of cake.  Plugged in the SIM (prepaid), and all I needed to do to get internet access working was amend the APN setting by entering internet.telecom.co.nz

I'm running the standard iPhone firmware, no jailbreak.

Texting works fine, so I assume standard settings and SMS gateway are held on the SIM.  So far no issues, and it's pretty speedy to boot.

@freitasm - no go on Your Telecom via the Telecom website; says it doesn't recognise my number.  Not sure if this service supports prepaid, or whether there is a lag in validating prepaid phone numbers through to the service?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I think the (WAP) address is telecom.co.nz/mobile/view/account-i. Or so it seems, since this &$^&%#$ browser on the E71 doesn't show the entire URL.

Prepaid customers do not have a Telecom account number so you are not able to check data usage online using the telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter service

I believe that Onebill is not available on XT.  In order to get a Telecom account number you would need to have your connection on one of the Postpaid plans.  This would be the only way that you would be able to monitor your usage using the telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter site.

If your device has WAP access you can access the Your Telecom service on your mobile and this will show data usage even as a Prepaid customer so I am told, however I have not managed to get on to the XT network yet to test this.

Very good, but...

I can't change the password - the Manage Password page always says the captcha is wrong.
