I am using the SE Xperia X1, which telecom says is compatible with the new Telecom XT network (a Telecom manager checked for me instore by checking the IMEI number) however my X1 is not picking up the signal when the SIM is inserted. The X1 only picks up 'vodafone NZ' and 'NZ comms'.

Is there a problem Telecom is having with non-Telecom sold handsets that should be able to work on the new XT network at the moment? Or do I need to change some settings on my X1? The settings are exactly how I left them which works fine when a Vodafone SIM is inserted and every setting is on auto.

I should mention my Telecom XT SIM is working fine when it is inserted into a Telecom sold handset such as the SE C510 so my number and account is fully switched.

Thanks

Hi

You need the SE Xperia X1a - the 'a' being very important! It seems you have the SE Xperia X1? Check your box it should state the model number?

I see... my device is the X1i.. does this mean it is not compatible on the XT network being the UK release?

It could be, but I am not sure if SE have differing numbering ranges for this model?

If anyone can provide more info that would be great.

OP - can you PM me your IMEI number?

Thanks

I put my dad's Nokia 5800d IMEI into the site and it listed it as 850/2100 even though I know that it's a 900 MHz model. The checker seems to have issues with "multiple model" phones like this one.

Put my N95 IMEI in and it said no - which is correct, but it also said it was a WCDMA 1900MHz phone! yea

I've tried a few phones and found that the majority of them were listed as 850/1900 even though they are all 900/2100

Seems that they may need to tweak the checker.

Just for the purpose of this exercise, I ran my IMEI through the Telecom checker, and it says my E71-1 supports WCDMA 850/2100MHz. err. not quite! Just a little glitch..

Hi

I checked the OP's IMEI and the checker works fine stating the phone is not compatible with Telecom's network.

Feel free to PM me some IMEI's so I can try and pass on the feedback.
