For some reason my ping to NZ is suddenly higher than my ping to australia. (See screenshot below)

WTF is going on!?!

i normally get around 10-15 ping to nz

I have checked my programs running, nothing out of the ordinary, plus my bw monitor says im using 0.1kb/s each way, so nothing lagging me out there.

I've checked my wireless, no ones stealing it...

What does traceroute show you?

Somewhere, some routing has changed, it'll be as simple as that. But can't really make a proper diagnosis until we see a traceroute.

if it looks like my modems causing it, its not, when i ping it i get a continuous <1ms

Interesting that your first hop (Your wireless device) is taking it's time to reply. But your 2nd hop is all sub-10ms, so we can probably ignore the first line.

It's hard to say what's going on, you see latency added between hops 4 and 5, but then hops 7 and 8 are low again. This tells me that something is fluctuating, adding latency, then it's going, then it's coming. This also reflects the large variation in your original ping screen capture.

If you're sure there's nothing on your network generating traffic, I'd just wait it out.

Try rebooting your router, it might be adding the random latency. It's not routing though by the looks, though I don't know the "regular" path the traffic takes.

Ok well my net just disconnected, as it always does for the past month or so, and it seems to be spiking less, so i think its pretty much fixed :)

Yer it reboots, for no apparent reason, its a Thomson TG585v5, its not overheating, got it placed away from everything and its on its side. No clue why it does it, some other people i know have the same problem
