hi all

signed up for a new broadband connection with telecom around 6 weeks ago and since then have not been able to view facebook images and have had issues with youtube loading. am running chrome but the same issues are apparent on firefox or ie. any clues guys?

Post the relevant statistics, i.e., sync speeds, noise margins and attenuation, from your ADSL modem/router.

Most importantly, have you changed your router's configuration (or PC if that's the case) to use the Telecom's own DNS instead of the old ISP one?

hmmm i haven't personally done so, however the telecom broadband setup programme might well have done this automatically?

The program wouldn't have changed anything in your router. You should check that it's properly configured to use Telecom's own DNS.

I just checked the link you supplied and rather sadly it doesn't show the Telecom DNS addresses being used by the OP.

Both 122.56.237.1 and 210.55.111.1 are also legitimate Telecom DNS addresses, but these appear to be for use in newer connections only.

The first thing you have to do is to log into your router's config webpage and update the DNS to be one of the Telecom's configuration page.

Then restart the router and test again.

You are correct on both counts, these are new DNS servers, in place since December and only handed out to new customers from around that time. Existing customers cannot reach them at this point. They are closed to the outside world, unlike the rest of our resolvers...

Since the OP is a new customer these are the correct DNS servers to be using, however as pointed out if a machine inside the network is not set to use them and is using something like OpenDNS then the sort of issues described can occur.

I know this isnt the popular answer but please make sure you have raised a call with the helpdesk.
Given its a long weekend geek to geek through someone like me would not be the best bet to get your issue resolved.

One test though is to change to the old DNS servers:

202.27.158.40
202.27.156.72

See if that resolves the issue. If it does please let me know as i have some work to do.

alrighty, either of those sets of DNS servers fixes the problem - i had it set up to obtain the servers automatically....thanks for your help guys!
