Recently I bought a new mobile phone (2Degrees) and changed its number to correspond to my old (Telecom) cellphone number. No problems here.

Is my old Telecom mobile (basic, ie no SIM card) good for anything other than scrap, now that its number no longer applies?

You can use it for anything on any network. Put a SIM card in and you have it working.

Starship Foundation accept old phones, so would be going to a good cause.

Probably better than using it as a paper weight :-P
