OK So today my parents went to look at a house, was meant to be just a viewing but they decided it'll somehow work out cheaper replacing a 380K house with a 550K house just down the road on the waterfront. Anyhow, they want me to look at what happens to our phones and internet during the move. Since we're already connected to Telecoms network, is it as simple as them switching our line over to the other homes line at the cabinet down the road? and are there limitations in spaces at said cabinet or do we still keep our current space? I've heard of these waiting list things and I just want to be careful. And if we cant get in on Telecoms network, will the space availability be the same for other networks like slingshot/vodafone? or d they have their own dedicated spaces there?

Hope that makes sense, This is just so I absolutely know everything.

cheers,
-Sam

You need to tell us whether you're connected to a cabinet or exchange - without knowing the address nobody can answer that!

And port waiting lists are virtually a thing of the past these days with cabinetisation - they can't really occur in urban areas these days.

No other telco installs gear in Chorus cabinets - only exchanges.

Its on a Cabinet. Same one as our current house. I only wonder because of the new sub-division down the road.

From memory this guy had difficulty because he was on a ADSL1 only Exchange on the East Coast somewhere?

if you're on adsl 2+ there shouldn't be a waiting list.
