Recently came across this problem, as the supplied Telecom drivers are only 32bit, and thought I'd share the solution. Just install the provided package and you'll be away.

If you need any other 64 bit versions for other sticks, please ask.

I recommend to most people to download the ZTE Drivers from ZTE Downloads Site via www.zte.co.nz

Yep but when Telecom/ZTE abandons the product (which I only bought a year ago) and won't update the drivers from 32 to 64 bit for any mac owner with Lion, you kinda have to find a solution. You should go have a look at the zte.co.nz website. Please note, by Mac OS drivers, 10.5 supported 32 bit only, last updated 2009.

Plus, the supplied drivers are from ZTE/Telecom, I have just taken 64 bit drivers from the ZTE/Optus installer (who do update their software) and incorporated them into the Telecom NZ installer. Now, we wouldn't want to have customers with completely fine hardware have to buy another HSPA+ stick just because Telecom can't update drivers do we? (I also called Telecom and they said there were no drivers planned and that I would have to buy another device).

Please assess something, before you decide to advise against it.

I found the updated ZTE drivers on their AU site here: http://www.zte.com.au/telstra/zte-downloads.htm or more specifically http://www.zte.com.au/telstra/Product_Downloads/MF668_downloads.htm

Personally I prefer to refer people to the vendors site rather than a link on the web which hasn't been released by the hardware vendor as it could contain anything.

I will raise with the product team that ZTE have released newer 64Bit drivers for the MF668 and see if ZTE can update their NZ bundle and officially release it.

You are welcome to virus scan anything I put up. Just trying to help the fellow man.

I'll even post instructions on how to do it yourself, it's so easy.

By the way, those installers contain carrier-specific software, you can't just stick a Telecom device in with Australian software and expect it to run, it won't. I tried. It asks for a "NEXT-G device".

I used to work for Telecom, we are right next to a Mac store. On the week of the Lion release, I had about 4-5 customers with similar issues, not to mention more in following weeks. Since the drivers online don't work, I had to ring data help desk, who had no idea what to do. I suggested they pass on the news that these sticks won't work with Lion Macs, and obviously no one has taken any steps. The hardest thing about being a big company is that it's hard to regulate if information really is getting passed on.

Here's the instructions on making your own installer, if you don't trust me:

Download ZTE.co.nz mac installer

RIGHT CLICK INSTALLER > show package contents > contents > packages > drv.package

REPLACE THIS WITH drv.package from Telstra/Optus package which can be found in same location of their package

Install Telecom Package as normal, and software will work perfectly.
