wazz: Been hooked up to the ADSL plan for about a week now. Not much to say, was connected incredibly quick and it's been just as solid as my old telecom connection so far.
No issues at all.

Same as me except I was on slingshot before, the DL connection speed on slingshot was 9-12mbps but on BigPipe it just sits on 13mbps. Very impressed.

By the looks of things BigPipe is going alright :) I would still personally like to see atleast a phone-line someone could call, in the event the internet goes to the dogs.

Question, approximately how many customers have you signed up so far? Also how is the 'unmetered' data connections coming along so far? No abusive users yet?

I got swapped over last Friday, and I must say the service has been great.

Although one thing is I am now unable to play/stream TVNZ On Demand where previously it worked fine with the old ISP.

Is anyone else able to confirm (on BigPipe) if they can watch any show with TVNZ On Demand? http://tvnz.co.nz/video

I
 get the error message..

TVNZ use the Brightcove API which is also used by other large media organisations globally you might need to disable any geoblock circumventing solution you may be using...

... or maybe too many people are using unblockus etc.. that Brightcove actually think Big Pipe's IP range is outside NZ :P

call centres are pretty expensive to run. We can only get to our razor sharp price point by not having one.

That said, we do have the ability to call customers when necessary.
We actually think this makes for a better experience anyway - no waiting on hold for someone to pick up, and we can prioritise urgent issues (like no connection!) to the front of the queue instead of taking people in the order they call up

If your internet goes down you can contact us via the query form using your smartphone - it's responsive site designed for small touch screens, so works well.
Obviously you can also tether your phone to get the full browser experience, ask your neighbour nicely to use their internet, use free Telecom wifi or the local cafe's wifi to get in contact with us. Lots of ways to get into contact when the net goes down.

Reality is that on the rare occasion that does happen, it's probably not something that can be fixed instantly over the phone anyway, so you don't really gain anything by sitting in a queue for 20 minutes only to be walked through basic 'reboot your modem' scripted troubleshooting only to end with "we'll send a tech out"

We'll be adding a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to our website (in smartphone friendly form) pretty soon and we're also working on smartphone apps that will enable a whole host of cool troubleshooting tools for when you are having issues.

got about 100 active users so far. No major issues. Looking to get about 200 by end of Jan, so, taking into account xmas break where we stopped signups, we're pretty well on track.

No issues with 'abusive users' yet.
We've got a few people who appear to max out their line 24/7, but that's to be expected. I have no idea how much data they are using since we don't measure it.
Anecdotally it looks like lots of people using Netflix and other services like that.

When you run an 'all you can eat buffet'  you better be prepared for the All Blacks squad to turn up and eat lots of pies. :D

Hi,  we're aware of the TVNZ onDemand issue.
It's something to do with Akamai not recognising our IP range we think (but nobody has mentioned issues with Sky Go or Mediaworks, but maybe none of our customer use those two because they prefer Netflix?)

We've been talking to Akamai about a resolution. Don't have confirmed date yet, but shouldn't be too hard to fix so hopefully in the next day or so.

Ironically, unblock-us actually has TVNZ OnDemand on it's list of 'working services'  so you might find that is you use unblock-us with the smart DNS turned ON, you can access TVNZ.  (I haven't actually tried it though)

Have you tried playing an episode, not just reaching the website? I still can't watch any video's on TVNZ On Demand.
