exportgoldman:
superleaded: How about a pricing system that reflects the true costs of making a call?

I remember a meeting with a big Vodafone client and Vodafone, and the marketing director at the time was giving us a tour of their new building opposite vic park and he said that Vodafone's pricing was not on a 'cost based structure'

Think about that for a second :) What other industry doesn't take the cost into acount when working out how much to sell a product or service for hehe

In accounting, there are various differnet ways of building a price for a new product

e.g.

Cost-plus pricing
Target return pricing
Value-based pricing
Psychological pricing
 and many others

Only the first one is 'cost based'  but they all still have to take into account costs to some extent.

What he meant was that they do not set pricing using a cost plus method. (probably because it is virtually impossible to work out the fully allocated cost of a particular produtc in the telco world because so much of it would be an allocation of fixed costs - and so depend entirely on volumes)

The device was listed in the sheet distributed during the media launch I attended on the 20th - that's where I got the model and price. Obviously it is a dfifferent model from the one listed on GSM Arena.

I believe it will be on sale on the listed date.

I'm a bit puzzled as the HTC Touch Pro 2 is listed as quad band GSM and 900/2100 WCDMA..

but it's been announced now coming to Sprint in USA on the CDMA network, as well as to T-Mobile on their network. Is there a chance AT&T would get an 850 version for their 3G network which would mean that the same variant would be available for Telstra and XT?

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

I dought that as no HTC models were announced so maybe they dont have a deal with the company???? your best bet is to import a 850mhz version and put a XT simcard into it.

Telecom has stocked HTC Phones for a few years now so i'm surprised there's nothing for XT.

At the moment, there isnt a confirmed 850 version of the Touch Pro 2. AT&T are the only 850 3G network in the USA, and as yet, there has no official or unofficial word of it coming to AT&T.

If Telecom we'rent going to get a special 850 version of the TP2, then i was planning to get an unlocked one from overseas and put an XT sim in it. Telstra NextG have the HTC Touch HD, which i believe is the only 850 variant outside of Australia. I don't think even AT&T have the Touch HD.

Windows Mobile has thousands of programs available for it and can be customised in so many ways, and hence that's why i want to stay Windows Mobile when moving to XT.

The entire retail industry?

Supermarkets sell 100's of products below cost every week just because they operate in a competitive environment. Many advertised specials are also loss leaders just to draw people into the store...Although both Foodstuffs and Progressive no longer sell liquor as a loss leader due to expected changes to the liquor licencing laws which will make this illegal.

Don't despair... Acer will be available from retail - I am using a F900 and this is a gorgeous WVGA device, with all you want on a Windows Mobile device. Telecom won't sell those directly I am told, but you will be able to find them in store.

The F900 is the touchscreen version, while the M900 is the touchscreen with a sliding keyboard.

F900 = /drool

1/ It will work on XT?
2/ Cost ? (or is that Jama's area?)

Anyone know if the LG KM900 will be available for XT?
