Based on my current usage, it'll work out slightly cheaper for me on XT... if the service is better (Voda 3G has been rediculously poor for me), it could be worthwhile.

freitasm:
somebody123: There's no point releasing details on the plans today - with the mainstream media tied up covering Budget Day, they won't be able to get much free press coverage.

You posted your comment minutes after I posted the plans two replies before yours. And they did release the plans...

I started composing the reply before your post, but was preoccupied with something else and didn't hit "Post Reply" till later.

Prepaid calls going from 49 to 89c/min? Yuck.

Edit: Actually, it looks like if I top up $60 at a time then I get 33% free credit, which really makes the calls 59c/min. Since that's to any network, it's not so bad.

Edit Edit: And it's per-second after the first minute, so that's even better!

Not really much price difference with vodafone. Compare the iphone $80 plan to the xt plans

I think my current Txter plan on Voda is better value for money... That's disappointing..

So disappointing. Where are all the on-net pulls? I gotta say, free calling/txting to Vodafoners all weekend is freaking choice. Sure, have your 'One Rate' stuff but come on Telecom! Why don't you get people coming across in droves by announcing dirt-cheap on-net calls? Free?

Ugh.

Yes, there really isn't much here to excite me at all. Data is the same as Vodafone's, call plans look very similar. The way this launch was hyped up I'd expect much more (or should that be less!)
Hopefully they can redeem themselves tomorrow morning eh!

Come on Telecom.

Based on these plans I won't be switching to XT, but instead investing in some sort of NetBook.

Sorry telecom, that is so disappointing. Even the data still sucks so bad.

I think they're fantastic plans! I was considering joining a plan already because I just ditched my landline, and would have gone for the $30 plan where you can spend your money how you like (under the old network), but now I can get texts, calls AND data for as little at $26.95/mth. I will probably go for something with a little more data (double the price for 6x the data), and I will sign up a couple of favourites to replace my landline calling, but still very cheap, not much more than my phoneline was per month and with much more flexibility and the addition of data. Am also especially pleased with the text options, I barely get through 50 texts a month, let alone 150, so the $6/150 texts option is going to save me money (and to all the other people b****ing about losing $10TXT, the price is still effectively the same, 20% more texts for 20% more $$, and still undercuts Voda's $12.95).

Incidentally, I knew about some of the pricing last night and played with an E71 so I was already convinced that this was definitely what I was looking for in terms of new phones/plans, but to see it in full is even better. I will also admit that I was in the market for a new phone/signing up for a plan (first time ever), so this is more a case of ideal timing for me. Other people who already have great phones and are on other plans might only see a small benefit that's not worth switching for.

What would I criticise? The subsidies on plans that have been indicated so far, but that's because it's a huge outlay and the prices I'd like to see are wishful thinking ;-) Have a savings plan in place though, so should be ready to buy in a couple of months.

Can someone tell me does it cost me money to join XT network, I'm currently on Vodafone prepaid.

Do i just go in to a telecom store take with me my iphone 3g my vodafone sim card, they would exchange a XT network sim card, then wait for an hour or so to connect? All for Free, i would assume the would transfer the credit  on my vodafoe pre-paid account over?

Disappointed it's better for me to stick to my voda txtr and telstra clear combo! and see if I can score a phone, and switch my CDMA TCNZ to a TNZ phone and keep same plan. hmm mind boggles.

No great deals but hey no surprises -

I'm currently on a prepaid plan paying $28 every 50 days for $128 worth of calls @8c per minute.... so I guess I won't be using my iPhone much when I return to NZ (from Singapore) after a year of telecommunications bliss. The prices for calls, data and txt's are still ridiculous in NZ

Sorry if I missed this, but are the prices are inclusive of GST?
