hoped that helped a little!

You might just be lucky that they lose your card. the 512 is very good. i have downloaded and converted quite a few episodes of scrubs and watch them on phone. its amazing what you can do now

I am still grumpy with my local Telecom shop – after persuading them to take my phone on Friday, and being asked for “proof of purchase” (which I did not have, as it was bought for me by someone else) I assumed they sent it away, only to get a phone call Monday evening saying “where is the proof of purchase – we cannot send away a phone without this”. I managed to get a scanned invoice to them by email, so I am hopeful the phone is at least on its way to get upgraded soon.

And I hope you make it clear after having your phone back with the correct firmware that you don't plan to purchase from them in the future.

freitasm: but radionut's phone was a gift from me.. :-) so technically he hasn't bought anything from that retailer.

Yep, but I didn't say "buy again from them in the future", but "buy from them in the future"...

The whole experience has been - "so you want us to fix this for free under warranty, are you sure there is a problem?" whereas I had expected "yes sir, we realise there is a problem with this phone, we will fix it for you as soon as possible".

Finally got it back flashed correctly (n100v1700.nep).
Still doesn’t fix my three pet problems with the phone.
1. When you are in camera mode and close the flip, all the Sanyo's I have used just go on to the mini display... the Nokia completely kills the camera and I cant find an option to fix this. Even if you set to mini display it will still kill the camera when you close it.
2. No auto key lock... now this may sound strange on a flip style phone.... but when its in my pocket I’m always turning the volume up on the phone (it can be really loud!!). It would ideally have a setting to turn on auto lock after xx mins and let it be turned off when you open the flip. Once again it is an option I was used to in the Sanyo's.
3. Cant figure out how to make individual contacts a custom mp3 ring tone... As there is no option to open gallery under the custom ring tone, just the standard Nokia ringtones or downloaded ringtones.

All in all a great little phone, but I don’t think Nokia have quite got flip style phone done right yet.

Nokia is still clearly taking baby steps in the flip phone market.

If I could just get a 2MP cam, P2T, Bluetooth, Outlook Sync in a phone like the 6255/7400 I would be a happy happy man.

Having no auto key lock on a nokia is strange, every single one i've owned before my 6255 (11 to be precise) has had the auto keylock option

And the is NO way to make to mp3 ringtones for contacts unless you add a contact to a caller group and you can assign an mp3 ringtone to a group

Have you tried converting mp3 to amr, and then assigning to a contact?

Im sure the crew decided "hey - its a flip - we dont need to put auto keyguard in" and promptly got Bob the keyguard guy to remove that feature. (Seriously.... everything but the bit about Bob)

except there is a key guard - but it doesn't come on with a time out..

.. and to confound this, the screen backlight doesn't turn off when the lock is on.
