Benoire: Looks as if Data rates across the country are dropping. Snap just increased by limit by 4x, from 60Gb to 240Gb! Wonder where the extra 'goodness' has come from, drop in rates through the southern cable?

Unless you're with Orcon.

This change makes jumping ship to Telecom seem a very attractive proposition.

All of Snap's data packs are at least quadrupling if not quintupling, with no price increase. For example, I have the 100Gb data pack on top of the base plan which nets 105GB/month quota (base plan is 5Gb/month), when my next billing cycle rolls over I will have the 550Gb data pack which will net 555GB/month with no additional charge as mentioned.

Telecom has held back NZ Internet connections for long enough.

Horrific pricing for business plans though. Seems to be a common theme everywhere - this is why I like Telecom and may yet switch back, you can get business services and support at residential prices by signing up for the "Home Business" plans.

kobiak: this is cool, but what a joke to increase data at the end/start of billing cycle in May. They should of increase DATA at the begging of upcoming end of billing cycle which is at 27th April for me... :( shame really to wait another month to enjoy double DATA.

Would you rather they'd waited until that time and told you after the fact?

I believe, from a twitter post that snap is going to restructure their "@work plans" and will be "finalised by next week", so stay tuned I guess.

Mobile broadband is completely different and therefore priced differently - you're paying a premium to be able to access your broadband on the go.

Quite funny really.
Got a customer that is on an old Orcon plan of 1GB,yes 1GB and Orcon are charging them $40 a month for that.
To add insult to injury they are having speed issues and Orcon are not interested.
Might tell the them to go to Telecom now.

Yeah, jumped from 60GB to 120GB! :) I'm a pretty heavy user because I upload screencasts and stuff, but I've never exceeded the 60GB even though there's one month I came close. Having 120GB is good for peace of mind, knowing that I don't have to watch my usage so closely.

Having moved from a country where it was all "unlimited" or "unmetered" broadband for a fixed price, the concept of metered broadband had me on edge initially, and for the first few months I watched my meter like a hawk, checking it each time I uploaded or downloaded something, but now that I have a fair idea of how much I spend in a typical month I don't worry about it too much.

Has anyone heard from Telecom who falls into this catergory ?

I have not had any contact yet.
