Got my old 027 number moved off and onto an old XT SIM. The number had 6 numbers the same so I had to keep it lol. Did it like 5 minutes ago, lady was very helpful given that I had admitted over the phone to chopping my SIM down to fit in my iPhone at one point so the SIM numbers were all gone.

1eStar: Who is going to be speaking on the phone when the service goes dow.....

hello...

hello...?

Now there's a challenge for someone with a currently active CDMA phone.

I really really wanna see this happen now hahaha. Someone has to do it and then record it. Is it switching off at exactly mid-night?

I'm pretty sure they are killing the voice network at 1/8/12 00:01.  So you "should" just get cut off.

It's going to take longer to shutdown all the towers as that takes someone going to each site and pulling the plug.

T-14 1/4 hours... and counting.

I guess some Telecom tech is looking forward to that huge scenic trip of pulling the plug at all the remote/rural sites :)

Received from Computerworld just a few minutes ago

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

So now that CDMA is on the way out (though a slow process), is there anything we can expect to see once CDMA is entirely closed?

Will we see an increase in data speeds? DC-HSPA+ perhaps?

Will we see cell sites with more transmitters once the CDMA ones are removed?

Will we see an improvement in coverage?*

(*Particularly, will the Te Awa shopping centre in hamilton, it's funny how you can walk into the dick smith there and purchase a telecom phone, yet there is almost no signal at times. cell tower http://goo.gl/maps/YOS4g here that you can see above the BK, Te Awa isn't constructed then but there is a lotttt of concrete between you and the cell tower. Swing around 90 degrees to the left and you can see the voda tower with 2degrees colocated on it - its side on to the mall so reception is fine. Bartenders cell sites reveal theres one further north in maui street, so i imagine thats where the weak reception is coming from down the north end of the mall)

I wonder when they close the CDMA network, did they accidentally mess up the SMS code system again Yell.
It's been 2 days can't get any google sms verification code when I try to log in my gmail.
