Hi guys - bit of an update from Telecom, as to what we're up to behind the scenes... and how you can sign up for news.
With fibre, we already offer it to our corporate customers and are hugely experienced at delivering high quality fibre products, with nearly 4000 connections to date.
Like the majority, we're still in a trial phase with residential UFB products - and like everyone, we're dependent to a degree on Chorus and other LFCs for their fibre rollout plans, in order to provide wider UFB services. We've learned heaps from the first trial customers and are now working with Chorus to ensure that when we launch our fibre services that they are of the quality you would expect from Telecom.
It's essential we don't rush to market purely to be the 'first' with a fibre product, as a new product is only as good as the overall service experience, we reckon it's vital we get that right before a widespread launch.
Hope that's useful - realise it doesn't give you the 'when' or maybe the 'how much', but... we're working on it!
Like Peter L said, we're a bit limited as to what we can share, but if you've got questions, fire them through and we'll see how we can go. Like I say, if you sign up on the link above, you'll the news first that way - or about five seconds before it appears on Geekzone!
Thanks for responding. Guess I will wait (didn't fancy the Orcon bad experiences I have been reading about!) - can't promise i will be patient, though!

Remember Orcon isn't the only one, Unleash, DTS, Worldnet - there are many others providing GPON UFB services now...
My area of Hamilton won't get fibre in the next 2 years so how about VDSL to help plug the speed gap while we wait??
Telecom customer here.
