This was actually a number of years ago now and as mentioned we did fix the issue by ensuring the wrong password was entered on the router we did not want to have the static IP. I was more interested in how the routing tables work nationally that allow the IP to work from either city (were we to not have both routers online simultaneously in this example).
Sorry, it's about this point that I can't give out any more detailed info :-) Suffice it to say that there have been big changes since then and traffic delivery is more optimal now.

Just out of interest what are you needing to change your ip address for every week?
I've read here of people complain as they get ip banned from a game server and not being able to refresh their ip's but if you're doing it weekly you most likely have a legit reason other than hacking on a game ;)

I would like to know the reason too. I've been on the same IP for the last two years (pseudo static nothing special with me :). And have never had a problem with it.
On the other hand, if you have an unchanging, "static" IP address, you will certainly need to use anonymizing software to keep your address private; see Tip 6.Edited for quote.
