Just be aware of using a Rotary Phones. Some VoIP devices and a certain purple networks don't like NZ pulse dialing and having to dial numbers in reverse (You know what I mean) is not very nice .

(Unless they fixed it since I left)

You should regard pulse dialling as no longer supported. Even if you could get through do you think you can whistle appropriately for the option you want?

xpd: Reply from my father...

"Yes! Have one screwed to garage wall! I don’t know what condition its in .ps worked when it was put in!"

Gave a quick call, he said its a brown sort of colour tho, not a red one and the cabling may need some TLC.  If interested Mr Biddle, Ill pick it up next time Im at his house and send it down to you. I suspect theres probably another one tucked away in the garage somewhere....  I remembered there was a cupboard full of phones when I lived there.

Don't worry too much, I've got a couple of other old phones. It's just a red one I'm after, which Ironically I had a few of in the 90's and then threw them out.

aHHH, dont tell me biddle corp is moving into the retro telco market, you might find worn out old phones harder to get than worn out old telco's :)

Pulse to DTMF converters are available and can a number also handle the reverse dialling system used in NZ.

I know somebody who's pride and joy is a red NZPO 746 (the classic rotary dial phone) hooked up to his VoIP ATA.

I'll have a look next time I go to the local flea market. Sometimes they have old funky phones. I remember those pert phones. So '80s.

That's the ugly Orange colour. Nowhere near as as cool as the red!

Were you still after one of those red pert phones, sbiddle? I'll have a look at the market today when I go if you want me to.

I'm always keen if you see one. Would happily pay $20 or $30 for one, I'm just not interested in paying the inflated prices many people are charging.

Ok, will have a hunt for you.

You know what I'd really love to have? The old batphone on Bruce Wayne's desk in the 1960's Batman show. Probably impossible to find I expect.
