They provide the email for free if you have an 'internet' product with them.
This applies to Dial Up, Fixed Broadband and Mobile Broadband plans of 500MB or higher.

The cheapest has been Dial Up for $20 a month if you don't have landline with them.
Dial Up is $10 a month if you do have landline with them.

So basically either of the above you effectively get Dial Up & their "Premium Services"

With their recent mobile plan price drops have you had a talk to them about maybe getting a T-Stick on Postpaid, and then moving the email service to that account? They have a 500MB plan for $15/month, which you should be able to transfer your email too :)

zCelicaDude: Hi All,

I'm a bit miffed by the charge of $20.00 p/month for an @xtra.co.nz email address

Dont forget that @xtra.co.nz is actually Yahoo Aus. Its not really a Telecom managed email.
One of the most unreliable email a/c types lately.
Not worth having , even if it was free. Just get a free gmail email address instead, if you want a BASIC email a/c

Are you sure the $20/month wasnt for a true Telecom Business email a/c ?? ie officemail or similar ?
