Seriously? I do not beleive that you can get through 500GB of content in a month and actually use it. You would have to be downloading dozens or hundreds of steam games every month to get up to that level, and there is no way you have time to play even a small fraction of them.
besides which, if you can afford that many games, even at steam sale prices, then you probably aren't worried about spending an extra 50c per GB for the extra data.

I was in the same situation with cable blowing the 150GB each month. And it was not torrents - just streaming Netflix etc. and Youtube.

You guys need to remember you're the exception, not the norm.

Average data usage in NZ is still in the 15GB - 20GB per month range, which is around a 25% jump in the past year.

Maybe Mauricio could put a mini poll to see how much we Geekzoners use on average?

If TCL came back with a 250GB plan at a reasonable rate I would probably switch back. Cable is still the best option out there if you can't get UFB.

My pick would be that there are a very significant number of users who use 100GB+

That further emphasises my point that many people here aren't typical users, and statistically shows there have to be a massive number of users well under 5-10GB per month for the average to only be somewhere in the vicinity of 15GB-20GB per month.

In the context of things you have to remember the average US internet user is only using somewhere in the vicinity of 40GB per month.

No online TV/video watching other than the kids using youtube a bit,

Can't even upgrade our cap because we're on cable so stuck with Vodafone and their horrible low cap high overage plans. Refuse to go back to ADSL, but due to get UFB early next year, so will finally be able to switch to a better provider. At this stage leaning towards Slingshot due to hearing very good feedback over their anti geo blocking facilities.

Similar situation here. I was forced onto the 150gb cable plan as that was all that was available at my new house. If given the option though, I would jump back to the 500gb Telecom ADSL2 plan in a heart beat. I'd also be willing to throw a couple hundred bucks at someone for the pleasure.

Why do you refuse to go back to ADSL?

I live in a house where we are 3 gamers all in the IT/ICT industry. I can tell you 500GB for "Steam" isn't an excuse ;)

You get quality bandwidth where you pay for what you use, then you get qantity bandwidth where you pay a fixed cost for unlimited. If you don't mind your internet being slow at times, your games lagging, your service being almost unusable, then go for an unlimited plan with one of the providers that offer it.

It's simple, you get what you pay for
