i am on 2 degrees. from mnt burnet tower i get 5 bars in the window but disappears in the house. outside i get 3 to 5 bars depending if there is a tree in the way. i am 7 kilometers from the tower and on the edge of the signal but i have LOS with the tower. i am on the southern edge of the RBI coverage, [ the tower is being tweaked to point north] all the coverage south is being dropped according to the coverage maps on their site.
Many sites are 850Mhz & 2100Mhz capable. If you are a long distance from the site then you will be utilising 850Mhz. Due to the lower spectrum, the signal penetrates further.
Dual Carrier as explained before, means that you can utilise 2 streams of the same band. i.e you can have 2 x 850Mhz signals - so instead of 21Mbit max, you can double that to 42Mbit max.
There are a number of devices that support DC. The main phones that come to mind are the iPhone 5, HTC 8X, Galaxy S3 LTE (I9305) and Galaxy S4 (I9505)
There are some DC compatible hotspot devices you can use as well like the Huawei DC E587 which also has an external antenna port, that you could use with any mobile compatible antenna
