dialled the service menu, yup DC at home! 50ms/9Mbps down/0.5Mbps up

I guess the 800MHz DC is different!

In NZ all 3G operators have the same individual carrier bandwidth (5Mhz) - whether it's @ 850Mhz, 900Mhz, or 2100Mhz. Each carrier can support a peak throughput rate of 21mbps, or 42mbps when operating in dual carrier.

Real world speeds are influenced however by Coverage, Capacity (NW load), and device capability.

It should just work - providing your android device supports HSPA-DC - I haven't come across any devices that can selectively disable Cat24.

I have!

Some very odd settings in that thing, being able to manually specify a preferred UARFCN was new to me.

That is one weird phone - one way to annoy operators!

I recall this ad from vodafone about dual carrier 3G a while back.

It shows 16mb/s

The most I've got on Skinny is about 8

Is this normal?

What's the most anyone has got on telecom?

I'm getting around 12Mb/s in a part of Auckland with no Telecom DC coverage, so 8Mb/s sounds a bit odd, though I have heard that Skinny doesn't give the fastest speeds possible.

Here is the link to the vodafone ad. It makes it seem like around 16 is normal, is it not?

If I'm getting 8 would I be on DC?

But to be honest 8 does seem pretty good

Weird thing was though is I get faster speeds but higher pings using the telecom Auckland server. And slower speed and lower ping to Christchurch telecom server

I would be happy with 8 on Single Carrier, I can only get about 5 or 6 on Telecom where I am on SC. Same place on VF I can get 23 from the local DC site.
