plambrechtsen: I'm fairly sure that resource consent had been granted for r&v and r&a... resource consent isn't a thing that happens overnight and then sorting out networking and power.

Not to mention the difficulties from some local bodies when it comes to applying for and being granted consent for COWs.

People need to come to accept that providing coverage to large numbers of people in a relatively small area is very, very, very, very challenging and in some cases there quite simply is no solution. Moving forward people are going to have to be a lot more accepting of network congestion because it's going to be something that's going to get a lot worse. It somebody was to change the laws of physics and remove any reference to noise floor it'd make life a whole lot easier.

I don't buy that, last year VF got trashed here as the network was unusable. Telecom made a few snide remarks about it. This year things were the opposite. VF had extra capacity and Telecom didn't. No excuse for it really. This is not a sudden problem and if Vodafone were able have things running smoothly then no reason fir Telecom's network being totally non-existent for the better part of a week.

Telecom's offer of free calling with every prepay $20 top up will also be causing congestion throughout the country.

Telecom were a bit reluctant adding 2nd and 3rd carriers due to the 4g roll out happening early into the new year in some of these areas

There was a video clip concerning telecom mobile congestion on TV3 news last night.
