yep, ild count you as outside of the range of VDSL.

i will point out, you could do with a master filter assuming you dont have one, your upload speed infers that you may have a line fault and so your attenuation could be reading high.

How do these numbers look for VDSL

DSL Status:                             Connected
DSL Modulation Mode:               G.dmt
DSL Path Mode:                        Interleaved
Downstream Rate:                   7616 kbps
Upstream Rate:                         768 kbps
Downstream Margin:                  14 db
Upstream Margin:                      12 db
Downstream Line Attenuation:    14 db
Upstream Line Attenuation:        3.5 db
Downstream Transmit Power:     12 db
Upstream Transmit Power:         13 db

From the Chorus site
Network capability:

  • Broadband > 20 Mbps (with the right modem and plan)
  • Broadband > 10 Mbps

Another question, does the upstream rate at about 10% of the downstream rate look about right?

Cheers.

P.S. No mention of Fibre for us.

your syncing on an  ADSL1 Profile (G.dmt), which is why your upload is a little on the lower side. (do note, your close on maxing out the downstream, and are maxing your download)

downstream attenuation of 14dB on ADSL1 would most certainly put you outside of the realistic range for VDSL.

the A in adsl stands for Asymmetrical, and even on the best of lines your not going to break much more than 1mbit at max (assuming your not on an gear supporting Annex M.)

what modem are you using? are you forcing yourself to ADSL1 syncs?

unlikely that your on a congested node considering the >20Mbit figure.

Actually the DSL modulation is set to Multi Mode, so I guess the modem is selecting G.dmt

Folks if you are with Telecom, please email me "pl at telecom.co.nz" and I will run line tests, otherwise won't know the true story.

So far EviLClouD looks good for VDSL, and getting UFB later this year or next year (lucky for some!)
And another person who emailed me their rural parents phone number and friends are both on a Conklin which isn't due to be upgrade... so that's not good news for them.

So yeah... some good.. some bad.
