who knows! all I know was I got wrong number calls, then I didn't get wrong number calls, but no voicemail or anything - i am not an important person, the only one that calls me is wifey :D

Vodafone have never charged to receive a SMS in any country. To send, yes, but receive, no. Send rates used to form a combination of the regular 20c SMS charge + the network roaming charge.

It's something that's simply impossible to do - unlike voice there is no way for the phone owner to control whether they want to receive SMS messages. You'd be paying for delivery of something you have no control over.

You did however used to have to pay for voicemail deposits while roaming which is no longer the case.
