Too late for a couple of people I know. Why were telecom so late with this product? Anyone who wants naked fiber will be with someone else now, good luck winning them back.

cbrpilot: Hi Steve, yes you will be able to get naked Ultra Fibre in Fibre-only subdivisions.  That should be live in our prequalification engine on the Telecom website (address checker) now.
If you have an area that prequals negative there, let me know and we can investigate.  There are known issues in regards to Chorus provided fibre in other LFC areas (e.g. if you were on a Chorus fibre-only subdivision in Hamilton (which is a UFF area)).

In terms of voice, yes we have something in the pipeline :)

Comes up negative for my address - but yes I'm in a Chorus-fed subdivision in Christchurch, so other LFC area.

What's the timeframe on the voice product, out of interest?

@richms, let's just say that this has to do with the fact that this is the first consumer Broadband product that Telecom has delivered that has absolutely zero phone line involved. That comes with its complexities.

@steve98, not sure I can provide you with dates for either of those - i.e. Ultra Fibre in other LFC areas, or Voice.  I know that voice is in the pipeline, but as per usual commercial release dates are confidential.  The Ultra Fibre in other LFC areas is not something that we currently do, but I can't rule it out for the future.  If I were a betting man, I'd say that it will happen ....

Sorry, what I meant is we're Chorus fibre but in Christchurch (which is Enable's UFB patch).

Understood.  I was meaning Ultra Fibre (the name of our UFB broadband product) rather than Ultra Fast Fibre (the LFC).
I'm not at all sure of when we will be consuming Chorus fibre in Christchurch.  Will see what I can do to enable (no pun intended) this in the future though.

Hmm. So the part of the press release that says it is available "anywhere that fibre is available" is wrong?

Yes, in the strictest sense, the statement is incorrect when looked at from that angle.  Naked Ultra Fibre is available everywhere the Telecom Ultra Fibre is available.  I believe the person (Jason Paris?) was making the statement in the context of our Fibre broadband products - i.e. everywhere you can get the (Ultra Fibre + Voice) package, you can get the stand-alone.  It is not trying to say that anywhere in the country where there is a piece of fibre optic glass laid, you can get Naked Ultra Fibre.
In fact you can get Naked Ultra Fibre in more places than you can get the package (e.g. Fibre-only subdivisions within CFH zones).

As I said, we are always looking to expand our footprint where we can offer services.  Next in line are Taupo and Wanganui.
My own opinion (and not necessarily those of my employer) is that I think it highly likely that Telecom Ultra Fibre will be available via Chorus fibre in Christchurch in the future given the size of that footprint.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

We launched with UFF in Tauranga at the same time as Hamilton and New Plymouth if that is what you were referring to.

This is interesting. I can now get 100/50 for about the same price as my 50/20 plan on snap if i was to apply the $20 discount, with 150gb cap. I say about the same as telecom doesnt offer voip yet and i'd have to sign up to 2talk for ~$10 a month for example, which brings the price up to around the same $110 pricepoint.

I was initially pleased to read this, as there is cable being laid in my neighbourhood right now (through Enable, which is... Chorus? Maybe?). But it's beginning to sound as clear as mud - "We're offering fibre everywhere we offer fibre. More or less."

Enable is the Local Fibre Company that Telecom partners with in Christchurch. If you can get Fibre via Enable, you can get it t through Telecom. The only provider you cannot yet get Fibre through is Chorus in other LFC areas.
Telecom has the best UFB coverage in NZ (according to Crown Fibre Holdings) and we're not finished extending that coverage yet.

Behodar: Stupidly the site greys out the pricing unless you enter a fibre-capable address, so here are the details:

30 Mb/s:
80 GB - $75
150 GB - $89
Unlimited - $99

100 Mb/s:
80 GB - $105
150 GB - $119
Unlimited - $129

Vodafones unlimited is 30mb naked fibre is $85 and goes down to $75 with a on account mobile, where as telecoms is $99 without and $79 with by the look of it

cbrpilot: Even cheaper if you bundle with an Ultra Mobile plan.  I.e. subtract $20 from that above prices if you bundle with your Ultra Mobile plan.

Is it just me or is there no mention on the site that the mobile discount only applies to on account mobile? Might confuse people into thinking prepay is acceptable.
